Bangladesh University of Textiles Overview

The Bangladesh University of Textiles or BUTEX, informally known as Textile Engineering University, is the first-ever and only public university in Bangladesh specialising in Textile Engineering. It is one of the nine PhD granting research universities of Bangladesh.

BUTEX is the only public university in Bangladesh that specialises in Textile Engineering. It meets the need for advanced textile engineering and technology education in Bangladesh and the world. The Bangladesh textile industry is the most important industrial sector as more than 83% of export earnings comes from this sector. Equipping the textile industry with qualified manpower with updated technical knowledge, expertise and skill is essential in building the appropriate backward linkages at the shortest possible time to face the challenges of quota-free post-MFA period. Bangladesh University of Textiles, from its inception is trying to create and nurture that environment where young generation would find a way to realize the hidden power within them with fullest possibility of development in an orderly way and walk along sequentially to become a member of the society and valued citizen of the country by utilizing their talent, potential and integrity and thereby glorify our national dream.

Considering the importance of textile education and research, the government of Bangladesh took initiatives to upgrade the College of Textile Engineering & Technology to a university. For this purpose, “Bangladesh Textile University Act, 2010” (Act no. 49, 2010) was passed by the Bangladesh National Assembly and the Honorable President gave consent to the act on 5 October 2010. (The Act was made effective from 22 December 2010 as per SRO No. 395-law/2010 date 20 December 2010 of the Ministry of Education. The Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, officially inaugurated BUTEX on 15 March 2011. It is located in Tejgaon Industrial area in Dhaka.

Requirements For Admission Test

• Interested applicants should pass SSC/Equivalent exam between the year 2016 to 2017 and HSC/Equivalent exam in 2019 to give examination in Bangladesh University of Textiles for this year.
• Students must have minimum GPA 4:50 in SSC and HSC separately.
• Applicants needs minimum 16 grade point in Mathematics, Physics, English & Chemistry subjects in HSC or similar exam.
• For Level ‘O’ candidates will have to get minimum ‘B’ Grade in 5 subjects & Level ‘A’ must get at least ‘B’ Grade Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Application & Admission Text Procedure

Every applicant should be applied for their expected subjects/department through official website https://www.butex.edu.bd/

Admission Test of 200 marks. The admission Test is composed of Math: 60 marks, Phy: 60 marks, Chem: 60 marks and English: 20 marks. MCQ bass question for 100 marks and lose 0.5 marks for each wrong answer. Total evaluated will be on Base Score (SSC+HSC) and Admission Test Score.

After the Admission test, Bangladesh University of Textiles Admission Test Result will be published on their official website (https://www.butex.edu.bd/).
